Module Aims Minimize

At the end of this module, the student will be equipped with a complete understanding and appreciation of the knowledge appropriate to teaching GCSE Chemistry, Physics or Maths in a competent and professional manner. 

The student will be capable of pursuing further studies, individually or supervised, in all of the major subject areas of their specialism.

  

Module 2 - Subject Knowledge Enhancement Minimize

During this module students study the key concepts underpinning their subject specialism enabling them to develop the depth of knowledge required to teach GCSE and A Level. Sessions will cover GCSE and A Level topics in Maths, Physics or Chemistry in order to extend students’ understanding or revisit and consolidate concepts for those who may have not studied particular areas for some time.

This programme aims to train subject specialists therefore the content of the sessions will range from Advanced to Undergraduate level. Students will be encouraged to engage in peer support activities during forum discussion sessions thus enabling them to utilise any specific subject expertise. The module will also enable the students to assess their own subject knowledge and form an action plan to address any gaps, thus contributing to their personal development plan.

Learning Outcomes Minimize

By the end of the module students should demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:
 
1. the development of their professional identity and ideology of their subject specialism as a distinct subject within the school curriculum; 

2. concepts of their subject specialism, principles and knowledge relevant to  KS3 , 4 and 5 and how to apply their knowledge and understanding confidently over a range of 11-18 educational contexts; 

3. reflective practice and how to use this to critically evaluate practice and to inform their own on-going professional learning and development .

By the end of the module students should be able to:

4.  demonstrate their development as critical, reflective and professional practitioners;
